Mobile phone batteries have been stagnant for several years, but that won’t happen because manufacturers aren’t looking for alternatives. That’s tough, since there’s more to be gained from lithium-ion battery technology. Now there’s OnePlus Announced on Weibo A new generation battery. We still know few details but we do have the name of his ally: CATL, World’s largest battery manufacturer.
OnePlus explains that it has teamed up with CATL to develop a new battery that they call the ‘OnePlus Glacier’. We don’t know the materials it will be based on, although as described by GSMarena, it is a battery based on a negative silicon electrode that will provide higher energy density while maintaining fast charging.
One of the first devices with this new battery is the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, which will be unveiled in China on June 20. According to the latest rumours, this mobile will come with 6,100 mAh and 100W fast charging, in a relatively slim body. If this data is confirmed, we will obviously be one step ahead of most terminals at the moment.
OnePlus was one of the first companies to bet with battery innovation OnePlus 3 and its 20W dash fast charging. Back in 2016. With ‘Glacier’ they will want a similar effect.
OnePlus and CATL talk about a “revolution” in smartphone autonomy. While it’s still early days, it’s interesting to see that OnePlus has teamed up with the world’s largest battery manufacturer.
